erp4school

ERP Software for Colleges in Higher Commercial Education

The erp4school ("e4s") program was developed in Germany around a new teaching approach utilized by a nationwide network of vocational schools, community colleges, and other industry training institutions with a focus on business and economics.  Centered around a virtual company, students learn how complex processes run in different parts of the organization. As a result, graduates of this training receive certification and improve their career opportunities.

Developed by Teachers for Teachers

The erp4school program has been in existence for over 8 years and is a highly acclaimed, time-tested program. The course materials are developed by teachers for teachers. Students run the technical helpdesk in the Educational Support Center, without direct SAP involvement.

From Germany to Africa

Based on the success of this initiative in Germany erp4school will be officially launched at Cape Penninsula University of Technology in South Africa on April 20th, 2011.

Education Mission in Africa

Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) have become an integral part and key enabler of today's development agenda. Many African governments are becoming more aware of the important role of ICTs in transforming economies in an increasingly knowledge-based society.

Today skills shortages remain one of the biggest challenges facing the African continent today. The demand for technical skills, and especially ICT skills, is increasingly exceeding supply.  Africa faces the ongoing challenge of growing and training its workforce to sustain and develop the national economy --- and to be globally more competitive.

In order to address the skills shortage and enhance human capacity in ICT in Africa, SAP has introduced both the University Alliances and "e4s" programs.

Quotes

"If we want to maintain the level we enjoy today we have to accelerate the speed of innovations (...) as long as we can stay on top, we might be a serious member of this global economy, and a prerequisite for this is education"
- Professor Dr. h.c. Hasso Plattner, Co-Founder and Chairman of the Supervisory Board, SAP AG

"With regard to the "e4s" initiative, I am fully supportive of the idea of using our institution to pioneer this initiative in the Western Cape. It will provide us with the much-needed tools to train the level of student that we service. This would certainly be in keeping with our mission, which is "to be leaders in innovative business education."
- Lee-Anne Henry, Professor, Cape Peninsula University of Technology
