Product Life-Cycle Management - Quality Inspections (QM-IDI)

Integration & Certification - Integration Scenarios

QM-IDI is a standard, open interface that enables the direct exchange of SAP R/3 quality management (QM) inspection specifications and externally processed inspection results.

The QM system is an enterprisewide quality management system that provides comprehensive support for quality planning, inspection, and control across all supply chain processes - from purchasing, goods receipt, goods issue and production, to sales and distribution.

Using the QM-IDI interface, you can complete QM functions by integrating data from measurement instruments (such as gas chromatographs), laboratory automation or management, or other external subsystems (such as complementary inspection systems).

For more information, see the SAP Service Marketplace Quality Management Web site. Access to the marketplace requires a customer or partner userid. You can also find more information about the QM-IDI interface in the SAP Online Help Library at SAP R/3 > SAP R/3 Enterprise Application Components > Logistics > Quality Management > Interfaces (QM-IF). Access to the help library does not require a userid.

Note: For a list of already certified integrations for this integration scenario please visit the Partner Information Center and use the search functions in the tab "solution".

Validity and Licensing Information

Validity of Certifications

SAP customers rely on certified integrations from third-party vendors which are based on the most recent releases and technologies available in the market. Therefore these certifications have a validity for 3 years. Third-party vendors and partners are encouraged to keep their integration certifications current by re-certifying their integrations regularly. SAP Software Solution Partners who are members of SAP PartnerEdge receive a 50% discount on re-certifications.

Platform User License

Certifying an integration with SAP solutions not only safeguards implementations from a technical perspective, but it also has a cost-lowering effect on SAP licensing requirements for SAP customers. Any person using non-SAP software that interfaces with licensed SAP applications requires a valid SAP named-user license. Users who access licensed SAP applications exclusively through certified third-party software can be eligible for a low cost Platform User Licenses. Please visit SAP EcoHub for more information, on how certifying an integration can make a solution eligible for Platform User Licenses.
