SAP on Oracle Solaris
The Oracle Solaris Operating System
The Oracle Solaris Operating System-supported on over 1000 x86 and SPARC platforms-delivers the performance, stability and security your users and customers demand. With thousands of applications available on Solaris, one OS can span your entire enterprise: the Web tier, the data warehouse, and the most demanding technical compute applications. Moving to Solaris 10 is easy, whether you're upgrading from an older Solaris release or migrating from another OS.
Sun and SAP have worked together since 1993 to provide a scalable, reliable, secure, flexible, and open computing infrastructure for customers around the globe. Over time our joint efforts have paid off, helping Sun to consistently achieve many SAP Sales and Distribution standard application benchmark world records. In 2010, Sun Microsystems was aquired by Oracle Corporation, which is continuing the cooperation with SAP running Solaris.

If you would like to get more information faster, share ideas and experience amongst your peers, we encourage you to join one of the Special Interest Groups around Solaris. There is one in the US/Americas and another one just to be founded in Germany/German-speaking; this is driven by SAP customers for SAP customers and is completely independent from SAP or Oracle.

SAP® Applications Certified for Oracle® Exadata Database Machine
Enables Customers to Consolidate SAP ERP and BW applications onto Private Clouds
In an ongoing commitment to provide customers with the best performance for SAP® applications, Oracle announced the recent certification of SAP applications for use with Oracle® Exadata Database Machine.
SAP applications based on SAP NetWeaver 7.x certified with Oracle Database 11g Release 2 such as SAP ERP and SAP Business Warehouse (BW) can now be deployed using Oracle Exadata Database Machines X2-2 and X2-8.
Oracle Exadata is the first integrated hardware, software and storage platform built to run the Oracle Database. By integrating the servers, storage, software and networking, Oracle Exadata provides a platform optimized for the most demanding database application environments, such as that found under SAP deployments.
Oracle Exadata comes as a dual boot system - Oracle Solaris and Oracle Llinux - and leaves the customer the choice which OS to run; thus enabling customers to integrate and use the same mission critical Enterprise OS - here: Solaris - to run their whole SAP IT infrastructure on and have one coherent platform.
