Third Party Add-ons for Xcelsius 2008 (BO-XC-SDK)

SAP Integration and Certification - Integration Scenarios

Xcelsius 2008, offered by SAP Business Objects, is the first and only dynamic and customizable data visualization software that enables users of different skill levels to create insightful and engaging dashboards from any data source with point-and-click ease. Users like Xcelsius because it gives them the capability to easily visualize complex data modeled in Excel.

In response to user demands for new and custom visual and non-visual components to be added to Xcelsius, SAP Business Objects has released the Xcelsius Component SDK (Xcelsius SDK). Xcelsius SDK enables Flex developers to add new or modify existing components in Xcelsius. Flex developers can convert any Flex widget or component and add it to the Xcelsius designer. This new technology will introduce exciting new aspects to visualization and data connectivity. More information of the Xcelsius SDK can be found on its page on the SAP Community Network.

Third party developers can submit their Xcelsius SDK-based add-ons (add-on) to SAP for integration certification. Among other things, the SAP certification test will test/check:

  • Add-on Installation and Un-installation
  • Add-on Component Initialization
  • Add-on Naming
  • Add-on Workflow
  • Custom Excel Functions
  • Custom Connections

Validity of Certifications

SAP ICC Re-certification Service Package

SAP customers rely on certified integrations from third-party vendors which are based on the most recent releases and technologies available in the market. These releases and technologies are changing rapidly in the IT industry. While the SAP Integration and Certification Center does some release monitoring on the SAP-solution side (see above technical documentation), we have no way of knowing how release changes on the side of the third-party product affect an integration.

Following the announcement in November 2007, integration certifications will have a validity of 3 years. Third-party vendors and partners are encouraged to keep their integration certifications current by re-certifying their integrations regularly. SAP has been looking for new ways to support vendors in their product life cycles and is now introducing the SAP ICC Re-certification Service Package, which includes among other attractive offerings a 50% discount on re-certifications.
