SAP on Linux - List of hardware released by IBM (xSeries)
General notes
The Server Proven List from IBM is the basis to use for operating an SAP
application and/or database servers. You can find this list at the
IBM ServerProven website.
For using with SAP software, the following basic models were
successfully tested in the LinuxLab and released for operation:

Important: The releases apply for both SingleCore and MultiCore systems.
The System x3850 M2 can be converted to the System x3950 M2 with the IBM ScaleXpander Option Kit (IBM Part Number 44E4249).
Strictly RHEL4 U4 or higher is always to use for RedHat in combination with x3950/x460 respectively x3850/x366!!!
Virtualization
VMware ESX (starting with version 3.0 also 64-bit guest OS on 64-bit capable hardware):
All servers listed at VMware ESX on System x (IBM ServerProven website) and VMware ESX on Blades (IBM ServerProven website) are enabled.
XEN (as part of distribution since RHEL5 U1 and SLES10 SP1):
All servers listed at RedHat Linux with XEN on System x (IBM ServerProven website), SUSE Linux with XEN on System x (IBM ServerProven website) and RedHat Linux with XEN on Blades (IBM ServerProven website), SUSE Linux with XEN on Blades (IBM ServerProven website) are enabled.

Important: Strictly Kernel 2.4.21-190 or higher is always to use for SUSE in combination with 8 GB RAM or more!!!
