Initial Setup
Application Lifecycle Management
SAP Solution Manager is installed according to the standard procedure and - mainly as troubleshooting information - the SAP Solution Manager installation guide for the relevant operating system and database combination.
You can use the basic configuration wizard (transaction SOLMAN_SETUP) to prepare SAP Solution Manager and connect managed systems on the development, quality assurance, and production layers.
Once the basic configuration is completed and managed systems are connected to SAP Solution Manager, you can create projects and solutions within SAP Solution Manager solutions. For all connected systems you can:
-
Perform end-to-end root cause analysis
-
Process SAP EarlyWatch Alert weekly (automatically scheduled)
-
Collaborate with the SAP Services organization:
- Plan service delivery and engagement
- Receive continuous quality checks
- Create incident or issue reports and send them to SAP Services
- Open a connection for remote support by SAP Services or SAP partners
How-to Implement SAP NetWeaver Functionality? – Installation Made Easy

How-to Implement SAP NetWeaver Functionality? - Configuration Made Easy
Once the installation of a new system is finished, there is still some work to do before you can test and release the functions for their users. What is still needed is the configuration of the system, which includes the activation of certain parts, the initial setup of the user management, the setup of a basic set of connections to integrate the system into your landscape, and so on.
In the end there is quite a long list of steps - luckily, this process is highly automated in the Configuration Wizard of the SAP NetWeaver Administrator. A demo shows the automated steps to configure a newly installed system running SAP NetWeaver Process Integration 7.1 including EHP 1.

How-to Install a System Landscape Directory and Manage the Initial Setup?
With IT landscapes at least partially made up of SAP systems of more recent releases, gathering landscape data in the SAP NetWeaver System Landscape Directory (SLD) is mandatory. In this blog, SAP's Wolf Hengevoss describes the installation of an SLD system and the initial setup, which both have been automated to a large extent. Both processes are demonstrated using the example of an SAP NetWeaver Process Integration 7.1 EHP1 installation.
