eLearning Technical Prerequisites and Known Issues

Here's some helpful information on prerequisites and software applications required to view SCN eLearnings.

Demo, eClass and Tutorial (including Virtual SAP TechEd)

  • Internet Explorer v6.0 or higher
  • The latest version of Adobe Flash Player
  • Windows Media Player 7.0 or higher
  • Sound Card with Speakers or Headsets
  • Screen Resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels or higher, 24 bit color

You can download Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player from the Microsoft Download Center. 

You can download the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player from Adobe.

Podcasts

Most SCN podcasts are in MP3, WMV, MOV and MP4 format. You can use Windows Media Player 7.0 or higher for MP3 and WMV playback. For MP4, a codec might be required or you can download the QuickTime player by Apple (it installs automatically with iTunes too).

SCN-TV

SCN-TV (SAP Community Network TV) uses either Windows streaming media technology (WMV) or flash.

  • Internet Explorer browser v6.0 or higher*
  • Windows Media Player 7.0 or higher
  • The latest version of flash
  • Sound Card with Speakers or Headsets
  • Latest version of the Adobe Flash Player from Adobe
     

 Streaming media may not work with some browsers (e.g. FireFox).  For SCN-TV assets using streaming WMV technology, you also have the option to download the file. On the player window, just right-click the link "download_movie.wmv" to download the movie file and play it locally.

Download and install the SAP Tutor Personal Player.

InterWise Virtual Classroom

Download and install the InterWise Participant Application. 

WebEx Webinars

Download and install the WebEx player.

Problems Viewing SAP Tutor and Webex Files

Users have reported problems when trying to view SAP Tutor and Webex files.

If you've installed the software and still get an error message when you click View this Demo, try right-clicking the button and downloading the file to your computer: then click open the file.
