This package is not for use with SAP applications. For that purpose, refer to the Download Area in the SAP Service Marketplace (login required).

To install the software, download the package on your local computer and double-click the file. The Installation Manager opens and leads you through the installation process. To operate the 32-bit version of Database Studio on a 64-bit computer, install Java >= 1.5 and make sure that this version is called when you start Database Studio. Database Studio is used to manage databases of version 7.5 and higher. It is a new component of the SAP MaxDB software and can be used on all operating systems supported by the database system.

Note: Install Database Studio on a computer different from your 7.6 database computer. Otherwise, additional steps might become necessary when you want to update your 7.6 database software later on.

From SAP MaxDB Version 7.7 onwards, Database Studio replaces the database tools Database Manager GUI, SQL Studio, and Synchronization Manager. It also offers additional functions, such as a graphical user interface for the Loader tool.

Among others, Database Studio offers the following functions:

• Creating and configuring databases

• Defining database objects (data model)

• Monitoring

• Backing up

• Restoring

• Import and export

• User administration

• Synchronizing multiple databases

• Performance analysis

• Troubleshooting

Database Studio uses the Eclipse platform. This installation package contains Eclipse version 3.2.
