The Mobile Application Modeler (MOAM) is an SDN evaluation software allowing the rapid prototyping of mobile applications by business experts. The applications are assembled from task and screen templates. Direct preview of the final application is supported. MOAM integrates smoothly with SAP NetWeaver Mobile 7.1 in that applications modeled with MOAM can be deployed directly to SAP NetWeaver Mobile client for handhelds. Additionally, applications modeled with MOAM can be converted into standard NetWeaver Mobile applications and be then edited with SAP NetWeaver Mobile development tools.

The download package contains the following:

• NWDS perspectives MOAM Modeler and MOAM Service Enabler

• Sample models ContactManager and DataUploader. The ContactManager application supports the end—user in working with contacts and their related business partners. The DataUploader generates sample data for the ContactManager.

Installation

For installation, just launch the executable and confirm all wizard steps. The wizard offers optional installation of the sample models. To activate the models, perform the follow these steps:

1. Launch SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio

2. Open Development Infrastructure perspective by choosing Window > Open Perspective > Development Infrastructure

3. Expand "Local Development\MyComponents" software component

4. Select all development components under that node and choose Sync / Create Project > Create Project in the context menu

5. In the next dialog, select to sync all used DCs and confirm to Build DCs after Sync. Press OK. Ignore Build failures.

6. Restart SAP NetWeaver Development Studio

7. Start using MOAM. You can:

   • Create your own model by clicking Create new model in the menu bar

   • Open the sample models ContactManager and DataUploader by double-clicking them in view My Models. To inspect the models, use task-level or screen-level view. Pick any model entity and inspect its properties in the Properties View. Select a screen and preview it in the Preview view. To deploy a model to the mobile client simulator of SAP NetWeaver Mobile 7.1, choose Build and Deploy in the menu bar. To convert the model to a standard Web Dynpro model that can be edited through development tools of SAP NetWeaver Mobile 7.1, choose Convert to Mobile UI Component.

License Agreement

This product is a prototype only. It is off-the-labs and there are no plans today for making it part of the standard product shipment of SAP NetWeaver Mobile 7.1. Our intention is to verify the template-based development approach with the SDN community and to receive feedback on this. We do not promise that applications developed with this tool can later be run on commercially available versions of SAP NetWeaver.

System Requirements

MOAM Prototype requires SAP NetWeaver Mobile 7.1 SP03 Trial Version and should not be used with other versions of SAP NetWeaver Mobile 7.1.

Note: Alternatively, SAP NetWeaver Mobile 7.1 SP06 development tools can be used. Versions between the two mentioned releases will lead to generation problems in MOAM and should not be used.
