XBCML WIDGETS
The SAP Business Suite offers a large number of powerful applications for the enterprise written using Web Dynpro. The XBCML widgets prototype makes every one of these applications - and all future applications written using Web Dynpro - immediately available as desktop widgets.XBCML widgets are integrated with the BI widgets framework, enabling users to access not only SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise repositories but also SAP transactional data from the same widget environment. The XBCML widgets has been integrated into widgets for SAP BusinessObjects 4.0.

BI Panel
BI Panel has been integrated into Live Office in SAP BusinessObjects 4.0 and is renamed as Live Office Panel. In Microsoft Outlook, a new Live Office Panel allows users to access BI content directly from email messages. The panel facilitates contextual search for BI content and builds a network relationship between that content, people, and email threads so background and other relevant information is readily available for future email discussions.

SAP BusinessObjects 4.0 Semantic Layer BEx queries direct access
With BI 4.0, you can gain direct access to SAP Netweaver BW by selecting an existing BEx query from a catalog of BEx queries. The BEx query selection is available in the SAP BusinessObjects products leveraging the semantic layer such as SAP Business Objects Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports or Dashboards. The access method used is not SQL or MDX, but SAP's BICS interface. Direct access generates a temporary universe structure on the fly, therefore you can leverage BEx queries very quickly without having to design a universe, this enables a very quick and easy implementation of the SAP BusinessObjects BI solutions on top of an existing SAP Netweaver BW deployment.
