SAP BusinessObjects Explorer Augmented for iPAD and iPhone

Mobile phones are becoming "universal pointing devices": by leveraging the phone's GPS location and compass, applications know where you are, and what you're looking at. SAP BusinessObjects Augmented Explorer prototypes lets business people browse geo-localized business information. Each Points of Interest (POIs) has an assigned location and associated dimensions and measures. The BI OnDemand platform at bi.ondemand.com is used to store the data. HOW IT WORKS

1- Download SAP BusinessObjects Explorer for iPhone on iTunes. (Please remember, this is a prototype only and NOT for use in production environments).

2- Define your augmented infospace:

The prototype is an extension of SAP BusinessObjects Explorer and uses the same representation of data (Infospaces, Facets, and Measures). A sample data set and detailed explanation are available in the documentation above. You just need to upload a data set that includes Point of Interest (POI) information to the BusinessObjects OnDemand platform at bi.ondemand.com and configure the data appropriately. The iPhone/iPad prototype works out what information to display based on your location and the phone's compass heading. There is an example of Information Space within the documentation.

3- Using the prototype:

SAP BusinessObjects Augmented Explorer supports the "explore, filter & act" paradigm: the user can explore the information, filter and dig into it, and share the results. POIs can be displayed as a simple list, on a map, or on top of the camera view (if applicable). The device's GPS and compass are used to filter and sort POIs also by distance and orientation.
